In Chennai, Mom and Pop is still the norm, when it comes to buying sports equipment. There are a lot of small authorities on the gear, not just one Big One.

Forget about roaming aisles, picking up the merchandise, scanning the sweeping selection. Real estate is at a premium for storage, even the stairs.
It doesn't mean the selection is huge. Want a cricket jersey? Maybe a few are out. Then it's onto pulling the stock and guessing the sizes.
What's big? Football (soccer) has a presence, albeit a deflated one. It's obvious: cricket is king.
